HISTORY

The founding fathers of Jat Sikh Association (JSA) must have felt the coldness of the people of the highly urbanised and cosmopolitan Delhi, where they had come, looking for greener pastures back in the 1940s and 1950s. As such they set upon the task of looking for more members of their own community, with whom they shared a common culture and heritage, with whom they could talk of rural Punjab, before whom they could open up their hearts and with whom they could share their past experiences and future hopes.

The Seedling Sown:

Eleven wise Jat-Sikhs met at Wengers Restaurant, New Delhi in 1945 at the initiative of Late S. Niranjan Singh Liddar ( A retd employee of NPL Pusa) and thus was established JSA.

The Seedings Sprouts:

However JSA, like any other organisation had its birthpangs and it could not make much headway for years. The Seedling nevertheless was kept alive and by the year 1953, it began to sprout. Many more Jat-Sikh far after partition of the country had moved to Delhi. The zeal and enthusiasm of the young men who had migrated saw the swelling of the ranks of JSA. Members from Punjab, other states of the country and abroad were welcomed in the organisation.

Under the chairmanship of Late S. Niranjan Sing Liddar, the constitution of the JSA was framed and on January 13, 1954, he was elected the first President of JSA. In 1957, JSA was registered under The Societies Registration Act 1860 of Delhi Administration.

JSA Blooms and Blossoms JSA regularly organised Annual Sports, Picnics, Variety of Entertainment Programmes and from time to time held receptions in honour of outstanding JSA members.
